Eastbourne's local history needs your support
Dear Local Historian,
As you may be aware, since the sale of the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne has no permanent display and study facilities for its local history collections. Currently, the Eastbourne Society have agreed to display, at the Heritage Centre, artefacts from the Borough's collections alongside those from other societies for an interim period.
By this summer key members from the Eastbourne Society, Eastbourne Local History Society, Eastbourne Natural History & Archaeological Society and Beachy Head Countryside Centre are to present a report and recommendations for a new museum to Eastbourne Borough Council. The group are now at a stage where we need to gain an indication of the wider support for this project.
We would be most grateful if you could complete and submit the form below to indicate your support of the following propositions:
(1) A Museum which tells the story of Eastbourne which the town can be proud of.
(2) A publicly accessible archive and research centre.
PLEASE NOTE - At this stage we are not seeking voluntary labour or any other contribution beyond an indication of interest and support.
Please do not fail to register your interest in the belief that plenty of others will respond, it is you whom we need to know about, now.
lf you would like to receive updates on the new Local History Museum project please indicate so below.
Thank you in anticipation
